Make an information request
From flood investigations to consents, you can make a request for information we hold in Essex.
The types of requests we will process
You can purchase information held by the Local Lead Flood authority on flood and water management in Essex. We provide two types of requests, basic and detailed.
Basic requests
Basic Flood Information requests provide a list of types of flood information we have on record and location within 250m of your site. Examples of flood information include:
- Historic flood incidents
- Flood investigations we have conducted within a 5 mile radius
- The types of flood defence assets on our asset register
- types of watercourses present
- Designated assets
- Ordinary Watercourse consents granted
- Ordinary Watercourse enforcements made
- SuDS approvals
The report also confirms whether your site:
- contains any areas of high flood risk
- falls within a Critical Drainage Area (CDA)
- is included in a Surface Water Management Plans (SWMP)
Detailed requests
Detailed Flood Information requests provide detailed information on any flood information we hold. This includes dates, anecdotal information, and any intervention that may have occurred in the area. We will also include where relevent:
- Groundwater flood risk
- biodiversity strategies
How to make an information request
To make a request:
- Fill in our information request form
- We will send you an email with a unique reference you can use to track your request
- We will reply to your information request within 28 days. If you haven’t heard anything back from us within this period, please contact floods@essex.gov.uk
